As part of my Googe UX Certification program on Coursera, I was tasked to design a snack-ordering app for movie theaters. Screen Bites is a mobile app project aimed at streamlining the cinema snack-ordering experience.
Method: I conducted short interviews with a number of participants that are regular movie-goers.
Pain Points Identified:
The goal was to create an app that would allow users to easily pre-order or order snacks during their cinema visit, providing a more convenient and enjoyable experience.
A college student who's a passionate movie enthusiast. John often goes to the cinema alone and enjoys a wide range of movie genres.
Goals:
John wants a quick and hassle-free snack-ordering experience, as getting to the cinema right before the movie is a top priority. Customization and the ability to pre-order favorite snacks are essential.
Lisa is a working mother with two young children. She often takes her family to the movies on weekends for a fun outing.
Goals:
Lisa needs a user-friendly app that allows her to order a variety of snacks for her family. Timely delivery to their seats is crucial to ensure the kids remain engaged during the movie.
Robert is a retiree who enjoys classic films. He frequents the cinema during off-peak hours to avoid crowds.
Goals:
Robert seeks an app that offers straightforward navigation and accessibility features. He prefers to pre-order his snacks to avoid unnecessary delays and interruptions during the movie.
Finally, user can easily pick up their pre-ordered snacks from a designated counter or have them delivered to their seat, depending on the user’s preference.
Convenience is a key deciding factor for users who value their time.
Clear communication about order details, showtime, and cinema location is crucial.
Providing flexible payment and delivery options (pick-up or seat delivery) enhances the user experience.
Screen Bites aims to revolutionizes the cinema snack-ordering experience, catering to the needs of cinema-goers, who seek convenience and personalization. The app not only simplifies the process of ordering snacks but also adds value to the overall movie-watching experience.
